Mobility Management in Next Generation Wireless Systems
This paper describes current and proposed protocols for mobility management for public land mobile network (PLMN)-based networks, mobile Internet protocol (IP), wireless asynchronous transfer mode (ATM), and satellite networks. The integration of these networks will be discussed in the context of the next evolutionary step of wireless communication networks. First, a review is provided of locat...
متن کاملReconfigurable OFDM Receiver for Next Generation Wireless Mesh
Date The final copy of this thesis has been examined by the signatories, and we find that both the content and the form meet acceptable presentation standards of scholarly work in the above mentioned discipline. Performance of current mesh networks suffer due to the lack of an intelligent physical layer. Research and development in higher layer protocols alone cannot reduce the latency and perf...
متن کاملMobility Management Issues for Next Generation Wireless Networks
The next generation networks must support mobility for ubiquitous communication between any two nodes irrespective of their locations. Mobile IP was the first protocol to support mobility. The process of registration in Mobile IP protocol requires large number of location updates, excessive signaling traffic and service delay. This problem is solved by Hierarchical Mobile IP (HMIP) using the co...
متن کاملAdvanced IPv6 mobility management for next generation wireless access networks
The theme of this thesis is the advancement of IP mobility management mechanisms to support robustly the delay requirements of interactive IP applications services. Current IPv6 mobility management standards are heavily dependent on reactive manipulations of the IP handoff process. Such modus operandi appears to be insufficient to address delay transparency during interactive IP communications....
متن کاملNovel Seamless Mobility Protocol for Next Generation Wireless Networks
-In next-generation wireless networks, mobile nodes (MNs) need to freely change their network attachment point while communicating with others. Accordingly, it is crucial for mobile operators to provide efficient seamless mobility support. Several mobility protocols have been standardized by the working groups of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). However, none of them can provide seam...
